The PTV MobilityPlatform is a modular and open software offering
service providers a component-based framework for application development. It is
especially designed for car makers, wireless carriers and telematics service
providers as well as operators of mobile portals who wish to develop mobility
services quickly and cost-efficiently.
The platform includes all key
components required for the development of mobility solutions. A wide range of
innovative services can thus be provided across different channels, such as Web,
WAP or PDA. The services can be easily integrated into external systems and
applications with a standard WebServices interface.
When developing and using innovative mobility services such as location-based traffic information services, offboard navigation or PDA-based city guides, service providers have to deal with a variety of technical issues. The PTV MobilityPlatform allows the user to cost-efficiently develop a wide range of mobile and telematics services based on uniform standardised interfaces. It offers a strong alternative to conventional patchwork solutions by providing a complete framework for easy implementation of mobility solutions. The advantages:
The PTV MobilityPlatform is a modular software which allows the user to develop mobility solutions according the toolbox principle. The platform contains basic geo-components, ready-to-use applications and pre-configured application modules to easily develop and integrate mobility-based services. All platform components are continuously being provided with high-quality content. Interfaces are available to numerous external systems for customer data management, billing or the use of information from mobile communication networks.
The components have standardised WebServices interfaces which can be accessed via an XML-based SOAP protocol. The platform can be operated at PTV's data processing centre and external computer centres alike.
PTV MobilityPlatform components:
The PTV MobilityPlatform is based on a modular architecture. The PTV Mobility Applications and the PTV Mobility Application Modules have been developed in Java and consist of Enterprise Java Beans (EJB). They run on standard J2EE application servers.
The PTV eServers have been developed in C++ to support high performance computing applications. They provide the application modules and applications with basic geo-functionalities. All components support the XML-based SOAP protocol to provide access via the WebServices interfaces, independent of the platform technology of the external system.
The front-ends and the client applications can be developed with JSP/servlet technlology, on the basis Microsoft.NET, stand-alone Java or Macromedia Flash. PTV provides a full software development kit for Java and NET as well as a detailed documentation on mobility-based services.
World renowned companies, such as Toyota, Smart, Audi, t-info, T-Com, Allianz, Dresdner Bank, the Federal Administration Office, the City of Berlin and the German public transport operator Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund GmbH, rely on the PTV MobilityPlatform used for mobility portals and applications on mobile devices.
