eLearning FAQ

  1. Once I register for the course, when will I be able to start?

The Demo version is offered at no cost and includes the first three (3) modules of either VISSIM and/or VISUM.

For paid registrations and those seeking professional development credits for successful completion of the course(s), it generally takes approximately 48 hours to coordinate your registration after payment has been received.

You will receive a “Welcome to the PTV On-Line System” e-mail with login instructions, your user name and password directly from PTV Training; you may then access your registered course(s) at any time.

  1. Can I access e-Learning from home?  Do I need to install any special software?

You may access your e-Learning course from any PC. The learning management system tracks the usage and login and may warn you that the courses are being accessed from multiple locations. If you need to access your e-Learning course at multiple locations, please let us know.

You do not need special equipment other than a PC with Internet Explorer and the Flash Player plug-in installed. If you use other browsers such as Firefox or Safari, you will not be able to access part of the e-Learning curriculum and will be required to download Internet Explorer.

  1. When I follow the link to the e-Learning site, my web browser says the link if broken.

Some anti-spyware programs may not allow access to the e-Learning site. For instance, this is an issue with the anti-spyware program, Watchguard. If the program supports an exception list, add the Web site address provided to you when you register to the list of exceptions or disable the anti-spyware program when working in e-Learning.

  1. How do I get started after I’ve logged in?

The first screen you’ll see is the main Student Center. You’ll be able to update your profile and view current courses from this window. In the My Notices section, you’ll have a Welcome Message with instruction to click on the Launch/Resume button to view each course section. Please note that the courses are designed to be completed in sequential order beginning with section one. After you click on Launch/Resume, you will be taken to the next lesson section. Clicking on #1 on the left returns you to the main menu. Left-click on any topic to access the material.

  1. I’ve finished a module, but can’t seem to find my way out.

Navigation controls are on the bottom of the page. You may need to adjust your monitor resolution to view them. You may use the scroll on the far right to reposition the window. These controls along the bottom allow you to pause, fast forward, and go back in a lesson. Press home to go back to the lessons listing window. You may also print, mute, and type notes using the controls.

  1. I’ve finished some of the lessons in a section but want to stop at this point and resume later.  Will my work be saved?

Yes. You may leave and resume at any time; your work will be saved, and your progress will be tracked. Click on finished in the current courses area prior to closing your browser window. You can monitor your progress in the current courses tab of the Student Center window when you first login into e-Learning.

Please note that if you are taking a quiz, you must complete the entire quiz in order to receive credit.

  1. How long do I have to complete e-Learning?

The e-Learning curriculum is designed to be a self-paced learning program. Those earning PDH credits will have 60 days to complete the course. Please let us know when you have completed the course to be awarded a Certificate of Completion granting professional development hours.

Please note that the Demo versions do not expire.
